Reptilis’ path towards a sustainable tannery starts in 2012 with the first hypoallergenic tanning with a low environmental impact and continues with the experimentation of the hypoallergenic tanning system based on vegetable dyes.
In 2015, Reptilis, in collaboration with its chemical suppliers and its customers, starts a self-assessment path that allows it to define the activities necessary to classify all the products in use.
This Eco Path was developed through the inventory and characterisation of chemical products, its own identification and the replacement of non-compliant products in compliance with environmental protection parameters.
In 2017, Reptilis became the first Italian tannery to obtain traceability certification for Molurus python leather, followed by Karung, Ayers and Lizard leathers.
In 2018, new projects begin to increase the production of metal-free leathers and extend traceability. Reptilis also achieves LWG certification from Leather Working Group as a testament to its commitment to ethics and the goals to improve production practices implemented by all players in the leather supply chain who work with the brands.
